Tommy Delutz Jr., born September 18, 1966 in Jamaica New York, started bowling when he was just 3.5 years old. His bowling home was Cardinal Lanes, in Hollis, New York, where both his parents worked.
Cardinal Lanes was instrumental to his bowling career because it was a place where local pros and national stars like Joey Berardi, Mark Roth and Charlie Venable would come on Fridays for a little "action."
In his early teens, Tommy started his tournament career bowling in Chuck Pezzano Jr's Junior Bowlers Tour which traveled to bowling centers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Tommy took his success from the junior bowling level to William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey where he was not only a two-time All-American, but also a resident assistant and member of TAU KAPPA EPSILON fraternity. The TKE Educational Foundation still continues to be his charity of choice.
Graduating from WPU in 1990 with a degree in Communications (Journalism concentration) Tommy joined the Professional Bowlers Association, winning his third and fourth regional tournaments he entered. He went on to become the Eastern Regionals Bowler of the Year.
In 1991 he left for the "Big Tour" and has been on the tour every year up until 2004 when Tommy had reconstructive right wrist surgery to repair the sheath and TFCC tendon he injured while bowling. The wrist is now healed and Tommy is back to bowling a full schedule of leagues, regionals and National tour stops.
When Tommy is off tour he now lives in Flushing, N.Y. and practices at Whitestone Lanes. He can be found giving lessons and working in Pete's pro-shop a few nights a week drilling equipment for his fellow bowlers.
When he is not bowling, Tommy can be found at Shea Stadium cheering on his favorite baseball team the New York Mets. You may see him driving around town in his favorite "dream muscle car," a 500 horsepower 1970 Buick GSX. He is also a huge fan of stand-up comedy and his favorite comedian is the late Mitch Hedberg.
